Making Magical Tortellini

How do we teach kids to love healthy food? Get them cooking in the Magic Kitchen!

Recently, 25 students joined SodexoMagic Executive Chef Garrett Johnson in the kitchen at Thaddeus Stevens Early Childhood Education Campus in Washington, D.C., where they learned to make Tortellini Pasta Salad.

The pre-K through fourth graders got to chop, season, toss and taste their creations, while the rest of the school experienced the lesson via simulcast. All the healthy ingredients, including tomatoes and multi-colored peppers, were explained on a recipe handout.

The SodexoMagic DC Public Schools team was inspired by the opportunity to positively impact kids’ eating habits – and the kids were inspired by the “yummy” dish. One happy student even gave it a “100 out of 10.”

Check out all the fun!
